Ghaffari Partners, a brand-new specialist practice focused on international arbitration officially launches in the United Arab Emirates today. Led by Amir Ghaffari, described by leading legal directories as a “global leader” and “star” with a “superb reputation for Middle East disputes”, the firm’s mission is to provide a distinctive and focused service in international arbitration, serving major corporates and international organisations throughout the MENA region and beyond.

Prior to launching Ghaffari Partners, Amir spent over seven years as a Partner at Vinson & Elkins, a leading international law firm with over 700 lawyers worldwide. There, he led the firm’s Middle East disputes practice and was Managing Partner of its Dubai office. Over a 20 plus year career, he has acted as Counsel in more than 100 international commercial and construction arbitrations administered under the rules of all the major arbitral institutions, with many of his cases involving multi-billion-dollar sums in dispute, in complex, ‘bet-the-company’ arbitrations. 

Also joining from Vinson & Elkins are Zoya Bozhko and Emily Beirne, both in the role of Counsel. Bozhzo, a trilingual US-national brings almost a decade’s experience in construction and infrastructure disputes, including investment treaty arbitrations under ICSID Rules and commercial arbitrations. Beirne has considerable experience of both litigation and international arbitration, representing sovereign governments, multinational corporations and private clients across a range of sectors, including oil and gas, telecoms, transport and other infrastructure projects. The team also includes Louise Willneff (Associate), Laura Roberts (Senior Case Manager), and Leanne Stephen (Director of Administration), creating a high-performing team from day-one.
